HDG recently provided design services to fully renovate and expand West Allegheny Middle School. Completed in March 2025, the project provides a complete reorganization of the building and creates collaborative and flexible teaching spaces throughout, including a feature area designed as an instructional “Think Tank”. A key highlight to the renovation was the inclusion of natural light into all spaces within the building’s expansive floor plate. In limited areas where natural light could not be achieved, interior windows with the latest LED technology that simulate natural light were installed. These unique “windows” create a realistic and immersive experience by changing color and intensity throughout the day to mirror local time and regional weather.
