Phase 1 renovations at the Shuman Center focus on transforming one existing living pod to accommodate up to 12 residents, while also repurposing a section of the Gymnasium into temporary administrative spaces. Entry to the renovated areas will be through the newly constructed administrative area, while all other portions of the facility will remain inactive and unoccupied at this time. Renovations will feature comprehensive upgrades to mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection (MEPFP) systems, along with contemporary interior finishes and a new, secure access control system. To enhance quality of life, residents will also have dedicated access to the adjacent courtyard, which will serve as a safe and welcoming outdoor area for recreation and social interaction.
