Breaking Ground on the Future of Learning at O’Block Elementary School

HDG Architects ended 2025 on a high-note by joining Plum Borough School District, community members, educators, and students for the groundbreaking ceremony at O’Block Elementary School. This meaningful milestone marks the beginning of an exciting transformation!

This event celebrated more than the start of construction; it recognized a shared commitment to creating a learning environment that supports students academically, socially, and emotionally. The project reflects a forward-thinking approach to elementary education, emphasizing flexibility, inclusivity, and thoughtful design that adapts to the evolving needs of both students and staff. In the design of the addition and renovations, the project team has focused on reimagining how spaces can foster connection, comfort, and creativity. From intuitive organization and calming design cues to spaces that support sensory and specialized learning needs, the vision for O’Block Elementary is rooted in creating a school that feels welcoming, functional, and future-ready.

“This project is about more than adding space – it’s about creating an environment that supports how students learn, grow, and feel every day. From flexible classrooms to thoughtfully designed support spaces, O’Block Elementary is being reimagined to serve students now and well into the future.”
Rob Rensi, Principal

The project is being led by Principal Rob Rensi, with Project Architect Randy Hunter and Architectural Designer Juliane O’Day contributing their expertise to ensure the design aligns with the district’s goals and vision. Their collaborative efforts with the district have been instrumental in shaping a project that balances educational priorities with architectural continuity across Plum Borough schools.

We are honored to be part of this journey and grateful for the opportunity to support Plum Borough School District in shaping an environment where young learners can thrive. We look forward to sharing progress as construction moves ahead and this vision becomes a reality.
